Inlays and Onlays in Cardiff

Restoring a tooth that is partially damaged or moderately decayed may just require a dental inlay or onlay as opposed to a full dental crown. Inlays and onlays are used for the back teeth and are a suitable option if the damaged tooth is still relatively healthy. A filling may not be enough to provide the necessary protection and a dental crown may not be required as their is enough of the original tooth structure that can be conserved.

Inlays and onlays are made from durable hard-wearing materials which can last many years. Treatment includes a local anaesthesia and then the dentist will prepare the tooth or remove a filling if necessary to create an impression with digital 3D technology. Our in-house CERECĀ® facilities will then make your inlay or onlay immediately which can be cemented into place during the same appointment.

Inlays and onlays can match the colour of your original teeth and your dentist will ensure the inlay or onlay fits perfectly before cleaning and polishing the tooth for a pleasing finish. Your appointment may take an hour or two.
